Base Year Inventory Methodology

Chapter 1 Introduction
This GitBook contains the Base Year Inventory methodology documents.
For this version of emissions inventory development, a base year of 2015 is typically used as a reference point for estimating emissions for historical (backcasting) and future (forecasting) years. Wherever possible, the most recently available data, including actual emissions, are used.
Sections within each chapter may contain links to references that are denoted as superscripted numbers. Clicking on these numbers will direct the user to the bottom of the page, where all references are listed.
This methodology document is organized into ten chapters, where source categories are generally grouped based on the fundamental industrial and chemical processes producing pollutant emissions. Some of the less common sources, and emissions from biological processes including that from animal waste, are presented under ‘Miscellaneous Sources’. Within these chapters, emissions source categories are further grouped into sub-sectors that typically represent specific industries (e.g., landfills and power plants), operations (e.g., concrete batching and gasoline truck loading), or equipment types (e.g., reciprocating engines and turbines).
