Chapter 2 Petroleum Refining Facilities

This chapter covers the emissions methodology for most non-combustion general refining processes, including emissions from chemical processes (e.g., cracking, polymerization, and reforming cooling systems), pressure losses, fugitive leaks, and stack emissions. The refinery process gas emissions from flares and blow down systems are covered in this chapter; however, methodologies for combustion-related refinery emissions are presented in Chapter 7 (Stationary Combustion of Fuels). Fugitive emissions from sealed equipment such as valves and flanges, pump and compressor seals, pressure relief valves, etc. are also covered in Chapter 1.
