Chapter 9 On-Road and Off-Road Mobile Sources

This chapter addresses methodologies to account for emissions from all categories within the transportation sector, including direct tailpipe emissions from combustion of fuel in internal combustion engines, as well as evaporative losses of organics from fuel handling processes. Particulate matter emissions generated from brake wear and tire wear are also covered in this chapter. The relevant emission categories include on-road mobile sources (e.g., cars, buses, and trucks) and off-road mobile sources (e.g., aircraft, ships, and locomotives).
